67 players have wallpapers in the library, 113 files between them. The ones at the top are where the collection actually goes deep — the rest have one or two each.
The list reads like a squad sheet from 2008 to 2014, the years the older part of the library was made in. Fernando Torres (9), Cristiano Ronaldo (6), Lionel Messi (5), Alexandre Pato (4), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (4), Andres Iniesta (4) and Theo Walcott (4) have the most files, and 47 of the 67 players have exactly one. Nobody who broke through after that period is here, because the files that would put them here were never made.
These are among the smallest wallpapers on the site. 58 of the 113 are 1024 by 768, the standard desktop size of their time, 11 are smaller still, and only one reaches 1920 pixels on the long edge. On a current monitor most of them are scaled up. The size is printed on every card so that is clear before the download, not after it.
The newer work on the site does not add players, on purpose. A portrait of an identifiable footballer brings that person's image rights with it, so the generated files stay with grounds, kits and abstract treatments. The player list grows only when another older file turns up.
A player with one or two files still has a page, so the name can be found and the file downloaded, but those pages ask search engines not to index them: one picture is not a page worth sending a search to. The 11 players with 3 or more files are the ones worth browsing, and they are grouped first below.
67 of the 113 files measure dark, which is the useful thing to know on a desktop: icons stay readable over them without a shadow. The other 46 measure bright, so a dark desktop theme is where they will look busiest.
A player gets a page here once there is at least one real wallpaper behind it, and not before.
Nothing here matches that. Try a shorter piece of the name.
