About this set
How many Alan Shearer wallpapers are there, and what sizes?
3 files in 2 different sizes, from 800 by 600 up to 1024 by 768. 2 of them are 1024 by 768, the most common size here.
Will these fill my screen without being stretched?
Not at full size: the biggest of the Alan Shearer wallpapers stops at 1024 pixels on the long edge, so a 1080p monitor scales all 3 up. All 3 are published at that size, never enlarged.
Are they for a monitor or a phone?
All 3 are landscape, cut for a monitor. Turned sideways onto a 9:16 phone screen, the largest of the Alan Shearer wallpapers keeps about 432 pixels of its width and loses the rest.
Which is the biggest file, and what screen does it suit?
The largest of the Alan Shearer wallpapers is 1024 by 768, which is smaller than a 1080p screen in at least one direction, so on any current monitor it is scaled up. The smallest of the Alan Shearer wallpapers is 800 by 600, holding 1.6× fewer pixels than the largest.
Is there a portrait version for a phone?
Not in this set: all 3 files are landscape. The mobile and tablet collections hold portrait files.
How big are the downloads?
58 KB at the smallest and 139 KB at the largest, 315 KB for all 3 together. The Alan Shearer wallpapers are served exactly as stored, with no re-compression on the way out, so the 1024 by 768 file arrives at the 139 KB the card shows. None of the 3 passes 1 MB, and the lightest, 800 by 600, is 58 KB.
Do these suit a light or a dark desktop?
All 3 of the Alan Shearer wallpapers measure bright, the lightest at 182 on a 0 to 255 scale, where anything under 90 counts as dark, so on a dark desktop the brightest of them lifts the screen instead of sitting back into it.
Can I use these anywhere I like?
On your own screens, yes, without an account.
