Worrying Times at the Emirates
Long serving Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is coming under more and more pressure to spend in January after his team’s recent failures. Under Wenger, Arsenal fans have been used to success, however, in recent seasons this hasn’t been the case. And, with Arsenal under performing in the premiership once more this season, currently in fifth position, those connected to the club are getting worried with regards to the clubs stature. Moreover, with the recent news that captain Cesc Fabregas will be injured for at least 4 months means that Wenger will be under more pressure than ever to make changes to his squad.
It is known that Wenger has been very reluctant to spend in the transfer window in recent seasons and prefers to keep faith in his youngsters coming through and performing the following season. On the one hand, with the likes of Ramsey, Wilshere and Carlos Vela in their ranks pushing for a first team place one could argue that Wenger is right not to spend. However, keeping the faith in these players could have serious consequences for the present, even though it may help them in future seasons. It is said, that Arsene Wenger is keen to start spending in this January transfer window though.
As a result of this, there has been much media speculation with regards to Arsenal signing players in the January transfer window. Players they have been linked to include Kolo Toure’s brother, Yaya Toure, who would help bolster up their midfield and make their side more physical. Another player recently linked to the Emirates is Everton star Arteta. The Spanish wing wizard has performed excellently for Everton over the past few seasons, and Wenger may be keen to bring that talent to Arsenal.
