Football Transfers – July 2009 (part 4)

Etoo and Zlatan

We start this week’s round up with Inter’s striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic move to Barcelona. The Swedish star will join Barca for £39million plus Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o and Alexander Hleb will also head to the San Siro on a season-long loan as part of the deal. Elsewhere Tottenham are set to complete the £10million signing of Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch.

Tottenham are also still interested in Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who is rated at £15million. The Dutch international is still available after failing to agree a move to German side Stuttgart. Tottenham striker Darren Bent could move on to make space for the pair’s arrival at White Hart Lane. The England international is being heavily linked with a move to Sunderland, however the clubs are believed to be too far apart in their valuations of the player.

Sunderland have raised funds by selling midfielder Dean Whitehead to Stoke for £3million plus a potential £2million more in add-ons. The Mackems have also completed the £5million signing of Marseille captain Lorik Cana and the Albania international has signed a four-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

Bolton have strengthened their squad with the captures of Hull full back Sam Ricketts and Aston Villa centre back Zat Knight for undisclosed fees. Meanwhile Fulham have strengthened their midfield by signing Bjorn Helge Riise for an undisclosed fee from Lillestrom. Manchester City have offloaded two strikers this week. Ched Evans has been sold to Sheffield United for £1.5million potentially rising to £3million with add-ons and Ecuadorean striker Felipe Caicedo has joined Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal.
