The Champions League Last 16 Preview
The Champions League knock out stages are always great football matches that attract viewers from all over the world. It is what sets apart the best teams in each division within Europe, and as we reach the last 16 of the prestigious trophy this season, there are some very exciting forthcoming matches.
When the draw was made, one that thrilled everyone was that of Inter Milan facing reigning Champions of Europe, Manchester United. Another Mourinho and Ferguson battle, with great importance. The red devils have been on form recently in the Premier league and with their great defensive record and rampant attack with Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov will be looking to capitalise on Inter Milan’s defense. Jose Mourinho has done very well with Inter since taken over as their manager in the summer, and has built a firm defensive unit with strikers with a touch of class in Adriano and Ibrahimovic. They, like United lead their domestic league.
The other game that has been attracting much media interest is Chelsea against Juventus. Both are doing quite well in their domestic leagues and both have extremely talented squads on offer. There is also an additional spice in the game, with current Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri being the ex-Chelsea boss. Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea got off to a winning start on the weekend by defeating Aston Villa 1-0 thanks to an Anelka goal; however this test will be much tougher.
Other draws include:
Arsenal V Roma
Atletico Madrid V FC Porto
Lyon V Barcelona
Real Madrid V Liverpool
Sporting Lisbon V Bayern Munich
Villareal V Panathinaikos
In addition to the Chelsea, Juventus game and Manchester United, Inter Milan game.
