Football Transfer Season 2009-10
It’s been a major week in the world transfer market with Manchester United accepting a world record £80million bid from Real Madrid for World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo. The controversial winger is set to have a medical and discuss personal terms when he returns from holiday at the end of the month. The deal is likely to be just one of many big money moves this summer.
The impending arrival of Ronaldo follows up Real’s capture of AC Milan superstar Kaka, who arrived at the Bernabeu last week for a world record fee of £56million. Real are far from finished as well as they are chasing Arsenal left back Gael Clichy, but the player himself has admitted that he wants to stay at Arsenal and help the club progress next season.
Another potential target for Real is Valencia and Spain striker David Villa. However they face stiff competition from English clubs Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United. The striker looks set to stay in Spain though, after it was reported that he’s had contract talks with both Real and European champions Barcelona. Valencia will receive in the region £30million for the talented striker.
Fellow striker Carlos Tevez could also be on the move with the Argentine set to open talks with current club Manchester United, neighbours Manchester City, Chelsea and bitter rivals Liverpool. A fee in the region of £30million will secure the strikers signature, with the fee going to his management company. The striker is rumoured to prefer a move to United’s city rivals Manchester City, but will still hold talks with all four clubs.
