El Clasico Fails to Disappoint Once Again
When the El Clasico matches come round, we all expect an entertaining match with football being played at the highest quality. Yet again, the El Clasico did not disappoint in terms of enjoyment, and it was Barcelona that came out victorious to the dismay of Real Madrid supporters. The victory has nearly secured yet another La Liga title.
Arsenal’s former hit man Thierry Henry was on target twice, and the other on form kid, Lionel Messi, added two to his tally, however could have been more had it not been for some great shot stopping from Iker Casillas. Despite the Barcelona attacking function not working to its best against Chelsea, they certainly got everything flowing in one of the most important domestic matches all season. With all the quality in the Barcelona side, with the headline stealers of Eto’o, Henry, Xavi and Messi, one of the players who is often unappreciated is that of Iniesta. Yet again, he performed amazingly well for the Catalan side, and will be seen as one of the best in the world by many. Pique and Puyol also added to the score sheet, and offered much stability in defense for Barcelona.
Real Madrid’s star man was the ever-promising Higuain, who troubled the Barcelona defense from start to finish and certainly deserved his goal on the night. Madrid’s other goal scorer, Sergio Ramos, didn’t have the best of nights defensively, constantly troubled by the ever present threat of Henry and Messi.
Overall, it turned out to be yet another great El Clasico, one of the most famous matches across the world, and long may they continue.
