Chelsea defeat Liverpool in big weekend fixture
Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the clash big clash of the weekend. Chelsea took the lead on the hour mark Nicolas Anelka scoring at the far post from a Didier Drogba cross. The Blues secured all three points in the last minute with Florent Malouda scoring from close range after another good Drogba pull back. The victory took the Blues back to the top of the Premier League.
Manchester United drew 2-2 with Sunderland at Old Trafford. Darren Bent put the visitors ahead early on. United hit back in the second half Dimitar Berbatov scoring with an acrobatic effort. Sunderland regained the lead though Kenwyne Jones and it looked like the Mackems had done enough for a surprise victory. Unfortunately for the visitors they let the lead slip two minutes in to injury time, defender Anton Ferdinand deflecting Patrice Evra past his own keeper.
Arsenal hammered Blackburn 6-2 at the Emirates Stadium. Rovers took an early lead through Steven N’Zonzi. The Gunners equalised with a superb Thomas Vermaelen strike. The visitors regained the lead in the 30th minute through a deflected David Dunn effort. They were only in the lead for three minutes as the home side equalised through Robin Van Persie.
Russian playmaker Andrey Arshavin put the Gunners back in to the lead with a strike almost identical to Van Persie’s. Captain Cesc Fabregas made it four in the 57th minute. Substitute Theo Walcott scored the fifth in the 75th minute before Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner made if six with a superb effort in the 89th minute. Arsenal are now back in to the top four of the Premier League.
