Arsenal win derby as Chelsea stays top of the table
Arsenal claimed bragging rights in north London by hammering Tottenham 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium. The first 42 minutes of the game were quite even with the two teams feeling each other out. In the 42nd minute that changed as Robin Van Persie found room in the penalty box to beat his defender to the ball and squeezed the ball past Heurelho Gomes.
Tottenham kicked off and lost the ball to Cesc Fabregas and the Gunners captain evaded two challenges before firing past Gomes in the Tottenham goal. That meant two goals in less than a minute for the home side. Tottenham were punished for a lack of concentration.
Van Persie scored from close range in the second half to make it three after Mark Clattenberg played a good advantage. Eduardo had a chance to make it four but fired wide when one on one with the Tottenham keeper. The result showed that the Gunners are still too strong for their local rivals.
Chelsea scored a comfortable 4-0 victory at Bolton to remain top of the Premier League. Chelsea took the lead just before half time. Didier Drogba was brought down in the penalty area by Jlloyd Samuel and the Bolton defender was shown a red card.
England midfielder Frank Lampard stepped up from the spot and fired past Juusi Jaaskelainen. Chelsea doubled their lead in the 60th minute Deco slotting home after good play from striker Nicolas Anelka. Zat Knight put through his own net to make it three. Striker Didier Drogba made it four to give the score line a convincing look. Chelsea remains two points clear of champions Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.
